Workshop: Uta Bunde – Let’s Get Emotional
Emotions were the key element of the 2012 district 59 table topics winner, John Holway. Still, John’s speech on having his first baby is one of the most memorable speeches I’ve ever heard. His speech inspired me to select emotions as the topic of my workshop proposal.
After a brief introduction on emotions, we will directly step into practising improv techniques to express emotions. We will work in groups of two or three. Example of an exercise: one reads out loud a text. The partner gives him different emotions to adopt while continuing to read. While our brain is occupied with reading, our subconscious reacts immediately on the emotions. They are incorporated more easily, quicker, more flexible, more intensely. The usual assessment and blocking of our conscious is “temporarily out of order”. This is one of the most effective learning method I have ever experienced.
My presentation will cover exercises one can perform at home as well as exercises for 1:1 settings (i.e. mentoring, coaching) and groups (training). All exercises will be adapted to the group size of a district conference.

Jim J Doyle profile
Jim has become an expert in the field of human dynamics and communication techniques through his journey from nervousness to confidence and Distinguished Toastmaster. His clients regularly achieve a level of excellence in confidence and personal presence much greater than their expectations.
In his role of engineer and research manager, Jim felt very challenged when presenting to large audiences. The feeling remained even after a 2-day “conventional” presentation course which failed to address the real issues behind a lack of confidence and presence. In his search for solutions, Jim has acquired a range of skills which help clients maximise their confidence, personal presence and communications skills.
From this place they can then develop their conventional presentation skills to a whole new level of mastery and excellence.

Workshop: Klaus Roth – The body speaks – but in which language?
The importance of gesturing and the sound of your voice are mostly underrated. We tend to be word-focused. This workshop will enforce your perception as to how people interact non-verbally. This seminar will increase your awareness as to how human beings interact without using words.
Everyone uses body language. Everyone is perfect in it because we start as a baby. But we are not aware of it. This workshop will sharpen your perception of what is happening among people.
I will bring to consciousness that words are sometimes of little importance in relation to the message delivered by your body. I will point out the different channels we use for interaction: Gestures, facial expressions, stance, posture, position in group, muscle tonicity..And I will speak about the influences from different cultural backgrounds.
This workshop will be in English and Gromolo.
Gromolo is a universal language. You will learn it during the workshop.
Benefit for the participants:
Awareness is the first step to change the way how your body is speaking. Body language is ruled by the unconsciousness. So it is out of the control of our thoughts. The potential of its influence is small. But a change is possible. I will show how slight changes generate great impact.
