Acting isn’t the same as public speaking, but have you ever thought about the areas where they overlap? There are probably more than you realise! And well-trained actors receive extensive instruction in key skill areas that are most relevant to speakers. We should all be aware of vital skills that we as speakers can learn from people trained in the dramatic arts. As an amateur actor since the age of 13, and after numerous stage productions and extensive training, I’ve been able to successfully apply much of my knowledge of acting to my speeches in Toastmasters. In this workshop I will share with you what I’ve learned from my experience in the theatre, and encourage you to incorporate new practices based on these in your own speeches and presentations.
