Where will the gala dinner take place?

The Gala Dinner will take place in the Hilton Budapest Hotel in the Castle district (Hess Andras Ter 1-3, Budapest, H-1014, Hungary TEL: 36-1-889-6600).

The Castle Hilton is right next to one of the most famous landmarks in Budapest, the Matthias Church. You can see the corner of the church on the right side of the photograph here.  –>

Please use the side entrance to the Hilton (see picture).

We will have a registration desk at the Hilton for the Gala Dinner, so be sure to bring your conference program and badge as you will need them to get your Gala Dinner ticket.

Note that there are TWO Hilton Hotels in Budapest!

The Gala Dinner is in the Castle Hilton. Do NOT go to the Hilton Westend…!

 

How can I get to the Hilton by taxi?

The easiest way to get to the venue is to call a taxi. It should not cost more than 2000 HUF (about 7 Euro) in total from any of the Toastmaster hotels. We recommend our sponsor City Taxi. Tel : +36-1-2-111-111.

Be careful getting taxis that wait outside hotels, especially those with no company name. You may pay a lot more than 7 Euro in some cases… Ask your concierge to specifically call City Taxi for you, or call them yourself.

 

 

 

How can I get to the Hilton by public transport?

If you would rather use public transport, then you should walk to Deak Ter, take bus Nr.16 and get off at Disz ter, which is the 5th bus stop from Deak ter. You should walk only a couple of minutes north from Disz ter to Hess Andras ter 1-3, where you can find the hotel.

The bus is small. You need to have a transport pass or buy a ticket (one Euro) in advance from Deak Ter Metro station nearby.

 

 

When will the dinner and the party begin?

A welcome drink will be served from 7.30 pm till 8.00 pm. Dinner begins at 8.00 pm. The party begins after dinner at approximately 10:30-11pm.

What will be on the menu?

Dinner is three courses. Depending on what you chose when you registered (fish, meat or vegetarian) the menu will be:

Meat menu:

–          Assorted Hungarian hors d’Oeuvres

–          Veal paprika with mushroom and egg gnocchi

–          Somló sponge cake

Fish menu:

–          Assorted Hungarian hors d’Oeuvres

–          Hungarian fish filet with ragout a la Kárpáty

–          Somló sponge cake

Vegetarian menu:

–          Assorted Hungarian hors d’Oeuvres (no meat or fish)

–          Chef’s choice

–          Somló sponge cake

What kind of drinks are included in the price of the dinner?

The welcome drink will be a glass of champagne or orange juice. Drinks served during the meal (soft drinks, mineral water, coffee, tea, white and red wine and beer) are included in the price of your gala dinner ticket until 11pm. After this time, drinks will be served only at the cash bar, which you can find in the foyer of the ballroom.

How can I pay at the cash bar?

Drink prices and receipts are given in HUF. The easiest way to pay is with cash in HUF. You can find two ATMs near the hotel. You can change money at the Hilton reception as well, but please note that the hotel exchange rate is not so great. You can also pay for drinks by credit/debit card.

Where can I get my gala dinner ticket?

Please bring your conference program and badge to show at the registration desk for the Gala Dinner.

You can get your ticket at the Gala Dinner registration desk in the Hilton Hotel Budapest when you arrive. Please use the Hilton side entrance to find the registration desk. You can reach the side entrance from the direction of the Matthias church (next door and south of the Hilton).

Gala dinner tickets come in 3 different colours. Green means vegetarian, blue means fish and red means meat. You will receive a ticket according to your choice of menu. Please put your card on your table next to your plate to make it easy for the waiters to see.

Where can I smoke in the Hilton?

You can only smoke outside the building. This means in front of the side and the main entrances. Smoking is forbidden elsewhere in the venue.

Can I park at the Hilton?

Yes you can choose between two parking options. You can park on the street next to the Hilton or in the Hilton garage. The parking fees are the following : HUF 525/car/hour on the street and HUF 900/car/hour in the garage.

What is the dress code of the gala dinner?

The Gala Dinner will be an elegant event in a 5 star environment. Please dress accordingly. Cocktail dress is recommended for ladies, suit and tie are recommended for gentlemen.
